Our Team

Oliver Auston


Oliver is the previous owner and co-founder alongside his father Paul of the UK brand of lifting & height safety equipment Checkmate, which was sold to Pure Safety Group in 2018. Oliver served as Pure Safety Group's Chief Innovation Officer for nearly 3 years. Over the past 20 years Oliver and his respective teams have developed a range of products from industrial soft goods through to complex engineered products, such as a full range of Self Retracting Lifelines, as well as bespoke machinery to enhance and automate manufacturing processes in both height safety and heavy lifting slings. With over 70 patents credited to his name during his career to date there is no doubt innovation remains his key driver and passion.

As the Winner of three Queen’s Awards for International Trade and twice for Innovation along with countless industry product and business awards over the past two decades including LEEA Manager of the Year and Product Design and Innovation Awards, around the world Oliver remains a heavyweight thought leader of our industry.

Retaining his position on the Board of LEEA and current Vice Chairman representing the Australian Lifting, Rigging and Height Safety company Ranger as a Technical Consultant. Co-founding Safehold in 2021 with longstanding friend and business associate Neil Hosken.

As the Safehold CEO Oliver will also take an active role in setting our strategic vision, product developments, sales development and marketing. Outside of industrial safety Oliver is a dedicated family man and sportsman, still wearing his Faversham Rugby Club shirt with pride.

Oliver remains an investor in several companies in the industrial safety & lifting sector and continues to grow and diversify those investments from property to technology start-ups.

Neil Hosken


Founding Ngineering Solutions in 2001 and focusing on solving complex engineering procurement challenges for a vast spectrum of companies and scales. From electrical components to technical castings. As the business grew with international customer relationships so grew expansion in the UK and international offices. The first being in Taiwan in 2012 and then in China in 2015.

With full in-house engineering and global sourcing capabilities Neil and his team have established an enviable reputation for solving technical challenges while at the same time consolidating supply chains and reducing costs.

Neil and Oliver have worked together in various formats for over 15 years and the complimentary skills blend well and ensure Safehold has the right depths and foundations for growth.

As the Safehold COO Neil will have day to day control of our operations.

Neil is a dedicated family man and passionate sportsman, particularly in Cricket where he is the CEO of the Minster Cricket Club and most recently the Swale Community Cricket Hub. Building one of Kent's premier indoor cricket training schools with three lanes, multi gym and conference rooms. He really is a guy that liked the game so much he founded a school for it!

Mark Tucker

Operations Director

Born and bred on the Isle of Sheppey. Mark or ‘Tucks’ as he is affectionally known, has worked in Procurement and overseen Quality Management systems for over 20 years. He oversees all the company’s ISO 9001 audits/QMS and the day-to-day running of the offices in Kent. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 2009. He qualified as a Presiding Justice in 2016. He is also an Appraiser and Mentor to new Magistrates.

He was appointed to the Football Association’s Serious Case Panel in 2019. Cricket is his passion and is Chairman/Trustee/Secretary of Minster (Sheppey) Cricket Club, along with sitting on various league committees.

He now doesn’t play cricket, he umpires. He has recently taken up golf and is trying to get his current 22 handicap down to below 18.

Andrew Crinean

Business Manager

Andrew started his career in account management in the construction sector, joining Ngineering Solutions in 2014 as Business Manager. Andrew has been responsible for business operations including sales, purchasing, inventory and logistics.

As we seek to integrate and capitalise on the existing business resources, Andrew will support the Safehold operations team. Particularly focused on ensuring our inventory management and customer service teams deliver the right product on time every time.

Outside of work Andrew has a great love for music and indeed Pop Master, he is aiming to learn a new language this year albeit we already think he speaks two!

Lee Maunsell

Technical Manager

Lee studied Mechanical Engineering at college and then took an Apprenticeship at Marine & Industrial Transmissions, where Lee learnt to become a machinist with much of his time spent in the tool room. He completed his HNC in mechanical engineering whilst an apprentice.

Lee joined Ngineering Solutions in 2016, as the Technical Manager. He has been instrumental in setting up the technical engineering team and systems.

He remains an important resource in our technical and engineering team and will head up the Safehold technical team. Outside of work Lee enjoys gaming, building Lego, RC Cars and Steam Engines! Just don’t get stuck at a bar with him without an exit and suggest a chat about the industrial revolution or Lego masters!

Phil Chipperfield

Sales Manager

Phil is the Sales Manager for Safehold Ltd. LEEA qualified, Phil has over 40 years experience in the Lifting & Height Safety industry. Cutting his teeth at 15 on the shopfloor at Ropequip Ltd in Swanley, Kent before moving to the office and managing the hire & sales desk. Phil’s calm and knowledgeable approach enabled him to build strong relationships with customers and key vendors. Phil spent over 15 years on the road as a Technical Sales Manager for Certex Lifting UK & Thameside Lifting.

More recently Phil was the Sales Officer Manager at Checkmate, a leader in height safety and lifting equipment.

After a short break outside the industry to pursue other interests, Phil could not stay away for long and his passion for the industry saw him join the Safehold team and some familiar faces in 2022, where once more he champions the Sales Team bringing a wealth of experience and skill.

Outside of work Phil is a proud father of two children, (both of which are in the industry too, so the Chip’s did not fall too far from the block, Boom Boom!) a dedicated family man enjoying the theatre, music gigs, travel, reading, dog walking and occasionally adding new divots to many a local golf course.

Mark Hesslegrave

With over 50 years experience in the lifting and safety industry. Mark started his career at British Ropes in 1972 and is now enjoying his retirement from the industry.

Safehold is honoured to have Mark now serve as our Non-Executive Chairman where his knowledge and experience will ensure our strategic goals are managed.

Providing mentorship for Oliver and Neil and the entire Safehold team, Mark is a valuable part of our new team and we look forward to the new journey together.
