This course is recommended for:

This course is suitable for all those working in low risk environments, who are required to have basic first aid skills for low-risk tasks in the workplace.

Course Details:

Duration: 1 day
Trainer to delegate ratio: 1:6
Assessment: Written and practical
Certification: Valid for 3 years

Prerequisites:

Minimum age of 18 years
A good understanding of the English language
Delegates must be physically fit and able to engage in climbing
A self-certified statement of fitness will be required to take part

Theory:

Understand the role of the first aider, including reference to:

The importance of preventing cross infection.
The need for recording incidents and actions
Use of available equipment
Assess the situation and circumstances to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).

Practical:

Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious
Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking
Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
